Lifestyle Modification Programs
Founded by Greg LaBranche, PhD Addiction disorder is a condition of dysfunctional neural plasticity and homeostasis, a state of diluted neural chemistry and damaged synaptic relay systems. Cognitive functions of adaptation have skewed and physiological functions of satiation have become self-defeating. Too much is not enough and too little is a crisis. ARMOR Program is comprised of three modules and five elements.
![]() ![]() Welcome! Please look around the site. Attend an Evening Session too! These are informative and similar to other self-help group meetings. Our format welcomes questions or concerns as well as sharing expriences, challenges, and aspirations. Share with others looking for similar answers and solutions, as yourself:
From "The Doctor's Opinion" W. D.Silkworth, MD. in 1939, in a letter to Alcoholics Anonymous (1976), writes that exchanging experiences with others challenged with an alcohol use disorder is of "extreme medical importance" and potentially a remedy for the condition. Similarly, SMART Recovery's educational mainstay is administered via group dynamics. The exchange of experiences is instrumental for supporting an addiction remission process. Doc had the good fortune to work with Jim (GJBXVI) Braastad during his certification process (2011) to facilitate SMART Recovery meetings and Doc agrees: "...people tend to believe what they hear themselves say." (SMART Recovery, onlline, 2024). This idea advocated by Motivational Interviewing weaves in nicely with ARMOR's element of Affirmation. As, we do not fix addiction disorders, we "elicit" or "influence" resolve from within such individuals; we help them get off the fence of ambivilance. So, join in the process!! We agree: receiving group-affirmation is an invaluable resource for those seeking recovery. A goodness-of-fit is essential to the efficacy and quality of affirmation experienced, according to LaBranche (2011). Lastly, it is wise to attend meetings (in the beginning), with a coach, mentor, sponsor, or therapist. As Doc would say, "bring along a swimming buddy." He had a sponsor bring him to his first meeting, "sit up front" and " a good meeting begins and ends on time." (Titto, personal communication, 1997). Note: services are provided for adults only. Parents are welcome here to seek support and find resources for loved-ones under age eighteen. Referance: Alcoholics Anonymous World Services.(1976, 3rd ed. p. XXiii).
